The same science that is used to treat injuries can be applied to promote better circulation and lymph drainage for sports applications. By applying ROCKTAPE to specific muscle group, we are able to reduce muscle vibration, accelerate blood flow out of the muscles to encourage oxygenation and promote lymph drainage, which helps remove lactic acid. These functions provide the athlete with additional endurance and help promote recovery.
Additionally, ROCKTAPE has developed a new protocol for taping called “PowerTaping tm”. By taping all the muscle groups associated with a particular sport, we create a sports specific bio-kinetic chain. For example, with cyclists, we tape the calfs, quads and hip flexors. With these muscles taped, they become “engaged”, both mechanically and mentally.
This ensures two things:
1) Mechanically the groups are linked and operate in a coordinated fashion. This ensures that when power is applied to the pedals it is done as efficiently as possible (ie. no splayed knees, hips balanced, etc). Also, ROCKTAPE increases blood flow to these areas, which promotes endurance and recovery.
2) Mentally, we send signals to the brain that originate from the sensor receptors on the skin that have been activated by the tape. This sensory stimulation can be very powerful. For example, elite athletes are very good at pushing through pain but at some point the brain determines that there is a safety issue and slows activity. By telling the brain that there is additional support available via the tape, the brain allows the athlete to push a little harder than if he/she did not have tape.
Whether used for muscle repair, stability management, recovery or enhanced performance, ROCKTAPE can be a valuable component in the athlete’s toolkit.

WHY ROCKTAPE IS BETTER:
Reason #1
Unlike other tapes made for
rehabilitation, Rocktape was created in the heat of competition. We knew first
hand that medical tape would fail under race conditions so we developed a lab
in the
Reason #2
Rocktape uses intelligence
and technology, not hype to design its products. Take our tape backing for
instance. Our Plow Pattern looks similar to a tire tread, right? We know that
certain tires channel water away creating more surface contact and better grip.
If you’re an athlete that swims and sweats you need a tape that can channel
water efficiently so your tape will stay on. So why do our competitors put wavy
patterns which act like dams on the back of their tape?
Reason #3
Stretching is good. Our
research shows that by making our tape with 190% elasticity, we allow the
athlete fuller and better range of motion. Our competitors only offer 130-150%
stretch. Can you feel the difference? To us, it’s like night and day. When we
wear our competitors tape we feel like we’ve been bound – we don’ believe
that’s what anyone wants to feel when you’re walking much less running.
Reason #4
There are always options in
life and compromises can be made. When we designed our tape, we wanted superior
snap-back which is the ability of the tape to stretch without too much
resistance, yet provide assistance to muscles when they return to neutral. To
get the right stretch and recovery dynamics and the proper moisture defense we
were faced with using a special nylon called 6/12 which is more expensive.
Could we have used a cheaper nylon? Sure, but life is short and making the best
possible product for you is what we’re all about. We chose not to compromise
our standards because neither do you.
Reason #5
One size does not fit all. Imagine if we all tried to wear the same pants. Some of our competitors seem to think we’re all the same size so they conveniently pre-cut their tape to inconvenient lengths expecting us to adjust to their marketing. We think there’s a big difference between a 42 year old Ironman mother of three and a 23 year old elite male tennis player. A difference in size perhaps but identical in attitude and spirit. We think it’s our job to fit you in size and spirit rather than the other way around.
F.A.Q.
What does it do?
ROCKTAPE helps you go faster by reducing muscle vibration which can
cause fatigue and helps promote blood flow and lactic acid removal.
How does it work?
When applied properly, ROCKTAPE lifts the skin away from the muscle,
which promotes blood flow. Faster blood flow means more oxygen and more
lymph drainage, which helps remove Lactic Acid.
Is it difficult to apply?
Not at all. If you can apply tape, you can apply ROCKTAPE. There are
instructions in every box and more than a dozen HD instructional videos
can be viewed here.
Will it work under compression shorts?
When worn under compression shorts, ROCKTAPE’s lifting mechanism is
unavailable. But as soon as the shorts are removed, the tape can begin
to lift and help promote recovery.
How long will it last?
ROCKTAPE can be worn 2-3 days. It is 100% organic cotton and can be worn
while swimming or in the shower.
How much does it cost?
Each roll retails for $20. A roll will last for about 10-20
applications, or about one to two months, depending on frequency and
length of applications.
